Privacy Policy

Your inner life is sacred, and this app is built to honor that. The short version: what you write stays on your own device. Here is the fuller picture.

Your journal stays on your device

Your journal entries, prayers, and any photos you attach are stored only on your own device (in your browser's local storage). We do not have a copy, and they are never uploaded to our servers.

What is sent, and only when you ask

• Reflections and prayers: when you ask for one, the specific text you choose to submit is sent securely to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate your response. We do not store that text on our servers afterward. It is handled under Anthropic's terms and privacy practices.
• Daily liturgical thread: only liturgical references (such as the day's title and reading citations) are sent to create the reflection — never your personal identity.
• Natural voice (optional): if you use the natural read-aloud voice, the text to be spoken is sent securely to Google Text-to-Speech to create the audio; it is not stored.

Please do not enter anything you would not want stored on your device or sent for a reflection.

Payments

Subscriptions are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe holds the billing information (such as the email you use at checkout) needed to manage your subscription, under Stripe's own privacy policy.

Restoring access

If you restore access on a new device, the email you enter is used only, in that moment, to ask Stripe whether it has an active subscription. We do not store that email.

Feedback

If you send feedback from Settings, the message you type — and an email address only if you choose to include one — is sent to us so we can read and respond. Please don't include sensitive personal details in feedback.

Anonymous, aggregate analytics

To understand how many people visit and roughly where in the world they come from, we may use a privacy-friendly analytics service (GoatCounter and/or Cloudflare Web Analytics). These count visits and show aggregate figures like page views and top countries. They use no cookies, do not track you across other websites, do not build a profile of you, do not identify you, and never have access to your journal or prayers. We see totals and trends, not people.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent your personal information.
• We do not show advertising.
• We do not build advertising profiles of you.
• We use local storage only for functional purposes (your settings, your access pass, and your one-time agreement), not for tracking.

Children

Anima Refinery is intended for those 13 and older (and, if under 18, with a parent or guardian's consent). It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your control

Because your writing lives on your device, you are in control of it. You can export a backup at any time from Settings › Privacy & Backup, and you can erase everything by clearing this app's site data in your browser.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
