Welcome, and thank you for being here. Anima Refinery (“Anima Refinery,” “we,” “us”) is a Catholic devotional and reflection companion. By using the app, you agree to these Terms. Please read them; they are meant to be plain and honest.
Anima Refinery is a devotional and reflection companion: a quiet place to bring the raw material of daily life to prayer, to journal, and to receive reflections drawn from the Catholic tradition. It is not therapy, counseling, medical or mental-health care, crisis or emergency services, legal or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for a priest, the sacraments, confession, spiritual direction, or professional care. It does not give absolution and it is not an official voice of the Catholic Church.
Anima Refinery cannot help in an emergency. If you or someone else may be in danger, or you are thinking about harming yourself, please reach out to a real person right now. In the United States, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911; elsewhere, contact your local emergency number. Please do not rely on this app for urgent help.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Anima Refinery. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the knowledge and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. Anima Refinery is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Reflections and prayers are generated with the help of artificial intelligence and may be imperfect, incomplete, or occasionally mistaken. They are offered as a companion to your own prayer and discernment, not as authoritative Catholic teaching. For questions of doctrine, conscience, sin, or serious decisions, please turn to a priest, a spiritual director, or the teaching of the Church. Use your own judgment; you remain responsible for your choices and actions.
Please use Anima Refinery for its intended, personal, prayerful purpose. Do not use it unlawfully, to harm others, to attempt to break, overload, probe, or abuse the service or its limits, or in any way that would damage the space for others.
Your journal entries, prayers, and photos are stored only on your own device — not on our servers. When you request a reflection, only the text you choose to send is transmitted securely to our AI provider (Anthropic) to create your response, and it is not stored by us afterward. Please see our Privacy Policy for details. Please do not enter information you would not want stored on your device or sent for a reflection.
Some features are free; others (AI reflections and prayers) require an active trial or subscription. Access is granted through device-stored passes rather than accounts and passwords. A free trial may be offered; after it, a subscription keeps the smart features available. Billing is handled securely by Stripe; we never see your card details. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from Settings › Support › Manage subscription, and your access continues until the end of the period you have paid for. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. To limit abuse, we apply reasonable usage and device-restore limits.
Whatever you write remains yours. The app itself — its design, name, code, and content — belongs to Anima Refinery and may not be copied or resold without permission. Church readings and calendar references are used with attribution to their sources and are not reproduced or owned by us.
Anima Refinery is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that reflections will be accurate or suitable for your particular situation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Anima Refinery and its creator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any decisions or actions you take based on the app. To the extent any liability is found, it will not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
You agree to hold Anima Refinery and its creator harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the app or your violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
We may update the app or these Terms from time to time. If we make a significant change, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, note it in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, unless local law requires otherwise.
